Su Manshu: famous writer, poet and translator

Su Manshu (1884-1918) was native to Lixi Village in Xiangshan County. Born in Japan, he became a Buddhist in 1894 in Huizhou. Then he came to Shanghai where he befriended with a lot of revolutionists. He has once made declaration to object Yuan Shikai claiming himself emperor. He is master of English, Japanese, Sanskrit literature, and good at writing novels, poetry and painting. His novel Duan Hong Ling Yan Ji (The Lone Swan) was very popular in the period. When he died, Liu Yazi and his son edited and published the book A Collection of Su Manshu’s Works.
