Sunwen Xi Pedestrian Street, once called Ying’en Street, connects Zhongshan Department Store in the east to Fengming Road in the west. The low buildings along both sides of the street present a typical Nanyang architecture style, a combination of the European colonial style in the late 1890s and the early 1900s with the traditional Cantonese sotto portico style.
