May 8 marked the 77th World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, and the two-day 2024 Zhongshan Red Cross First-aid Skills Competition kicked off at Zhongshan Overseas Chinese Secondary School.

A total of 28 teams with 140 competitors from towns (sub-districts), Red Cross organizations of municipal schools and the municipal transportation bureau competed on the same stage in such first-aid skills as CPR and emergency trauma care.

Over the past five years, nearly 650,000 individuals in Zhongshan have received Red Cross first-aid training, and approximately 59,000 have obtained training certificates. Zhongshan has also established 5 emergency first-aid training bases.
